About Independent Travel Help
My name is Teresa and at the age of 38 I finally realised a long-held dream of mine to travel around the world.
I started in India and finished in Argentina. I backpacked my way around 18 countries in 3 continents in 365 days using planes, trains and lots of buses. I had a number of ‘firsts’ on my journey. Here are just five of them:
- Travelling solo
- Staying in hostels
- Turning up in places with no accommodation arranged in advance
As you can probably tell, I was on a tight budget and up for a bit of adventure. I am so glad I finally did it because it was the most amazing experience of my life. It’s incredible what you can do in a year.
I learned a lot about myself, visited some amazing places and met some incredible people. I haven’t stopped travelling. People ask if my craving to travel has been satisfied… no, obviously not! I always like to have some travel experience to look forward to. The next thing on my list is to have a business that is location independent and to live in a country where English is not the native language so I can truly absorb the language, culture and people. Where will it be? I’m not sure but I do have a few ideas.
Why Independent Travel Help?
When I returned to the UK, I wanted to do something with my travels. I didn’t want it to be just a ‘stand-alone’ experience because it had such a big impact on me and my life. I have had a number of women ask me about my experience and some said they couldn’t do it. The truth is they could, if that’s what they really wanted to do. I started Independent Travel Help to inspire, motivate and provide information to women aged 35+ who are thinking about going travelling. As I am still travelling, I am always learning and experiencing new things so I will always be adding to the site.
About the website
The main part of this website is a blog, which is based on my travel experiences (past and present) as a woman aged 35+. There is some general travel information about places I have been to and experiences I have had as well as some personal development information. There is an ‘Ask Teresa’ section, which gives you the opportunity to ask me any questions you might have. I will answer them as fully, honestly, and quickly as I can. I offer a travel coaching package to identify what you want from the experience, work on anything that might be stopping you and have a clear plan of how to achieve your travel goals. I also offer a travel consultancy service where I will, after a detailed consultation with you, do all the research for you.
This website is continually evolving and your feedback is important to ensure it continues to provide women with all the information they need.
If you are new to the site, it might be worth having a quick scan of the start here page.
