This week’s Foto Friday is of…
you guessed it… a woman balancing a basket of baguettes on her head. She just looks so relaxed about the whole thing but I suppose she’s been doing this every day for years.
So, where did I take this photograph? It was while I was in Siem Riep in Cambodia. I was due to catch a bus to Phnom Penh but I really fancied a coffee. It turned out to be a bit of a mission to find somewhere I could buy a coffee to takeaway early in the morning but my determination and persistence paid off. However, it was the most unusual takeaway coffee ever because it came in a plastic bag rather than a plastic or paper cup and it came with a straw. Until that day, I had never drunk coffee out of a plastic bag nor with a straw. Well, yet another new experience! Sadly, I don’t have a photo of my coffee bag but I did get this photo instead.
Are you wondering why there are baguettes in Cambodia? If you are, it dates back from 1863 when it was part of the French Colonial Empire. So, the French introduced baguettes to Cambodia.
Just in case you’re wondering where Siem Reap so you can buy a takeaway coffee in a plastic bag with a straw, here it is…
