This week, I have chosen a photograph of a place that is near my home. It’s one of my favourite places to visit when there is a clear blue sky and the sun is beating down. So, why it is one of my favourite places? To me, it’s my local paradise because it’s so relaxing. Being up high, the view is spectacular and all you can hear are the sounds of the waves crashing against the rocks, birds and occasional motorboats. So, where is this local paradise of mine? Any ideas?
Well, you may be surprised to find out that it’s in England. People often associate England with rain. I can understand that because we do get a fair bit of rain but we also have sunny days when you can truly appreciate the beauty that England has to offer.
This photograph was taken by Old Harry Rocks on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. I always suggest that anyone coming to the area goes there because it is so beautiful and relaxing. It never seems to be overrun with people either. You can sit down and enjoy the view, watch the sailing boats gliding by and the seagulls enjoying a momentary rest before taking to the sky again.
It’s a great stopping off point between Poole and Swanage. If you feel up to it, you can take the South West Coastal Path to Swanage from here. The path from here to Swanage is less strenuous than if you begin in Swanage but it’s still invigorating and the rugged scenery is stunning. You can, of course, drive or take a bus to Swanage if you don’t fancy tackling the coastal path.
It is close to Bournemouth and only a couple of hours from London. There is so much more to see and do in the area, it’s worth making the trip.
Have your say
What do you think of my local paradise? Have you ever been to the Isle of Purbeck and Old Harry Rocks? If so, what did you think of it? If not, would you consider going?
If you have any questions about the Isle of Purbeck and Old Harry, please write them in the comments section below. I am a local gal so I will do my best to answer them.
Until next time 🙂
